Thinking, Learning, and Ways of Knowing in Education

This course addresses issues related to thinking, understanding, and intellectual development throughout childhood and into adulthood. Recent research and current thought in the fields of educational psychology and developmental theory will be covered with a focus on learning and instruction theories; cognitive, social, emotional, and moral development; classroom management; and methods of assessment. The course offers the opportunity to further examine the intersection of such disciplines with the themes of social justice and equity, critical thinking, and leadership in education, building off of the coursework required for EDUC222 and developing knowledge and skills that are necessary for teaching, in alignment with the department's mission. Prerequisite: EDUC 222. May not be taken pass/fail.
